This project illustrates how important a consideration detail & colour accuracy is when planning your product photography. Especially important when the images are used on an e-commence site or mail-order catalogue where the end customer only has the images to make a purchase decision. Returns when the item doesn't match up to expectation is never good for customer service!

ThermaHelm® is hoping to revolutionise crash helmets with its 'Brain Cooling' technology. We were asked to shoot the first of a range of helmets ahead of their launch in May. The highly reflective outer coating & the need to show the Carbon fibre weave under the surface meant we had to use very controlled lighting techniques & in-house retouching to eliminate reflections.

It been a great start to 2010 keeping us busy. Seems to be plenty of interesting work around. One of the first jobs of the year was for Rainmac, who are getting set for a big relaunch in 2010. We were asked to shoot over 100 products for their new website & catalogue.

We recently completed a shoot for IT & Cloud Computing experts Commensus www.commensus.com. Their brief to us was to produce images of their employees & Management team with a polished but relaxed & naturalistic feel. This is what we came up with...

If you go down to the woods today...

What do to when the weather is great? Take the studio lights, honda generator, a bunch of styling & couple of business men in to the woods for an impromptu shoot. Here are the results. Many thanks to Jo (AD & trusty workhorse!) - who by the way is available for work & comes highly recommended.

What happened to the summer....

Should have be shooting outside during the summer but we have found ourselves working on a lot of product shots in the studio - Packshots (including the associated Photoshop work, which we also handle in-house) to more creative stuff. No complaints though as we are really pleased with the results and the weather hasn't exactly be fantastic to say the least!

Was checking out some of my favorite blogs this morning and came across this post on The Factory - the great blog from the creative team over at Moodboard. It got me thinking how impersonal shooting stock can be. Images get uploaded to your stock agencies websites - the images hopefully sell - you wait with bated breath each month for your sales report, hopefully showing plenty of quadruple digit sales(!) & some great usage - which you never see.

It's a great feeling when you do, but all too often you don't get to see it. Here are a couple we did get to see recently...

The Compassionate Eye Foundation was set up by Vancouver based photographer Robert Kent to help improve the lives of people in developing nations through education, health and economic development. Each year on or around June 21st, the Summer Solstice, photographers, their crews & Getty Image creatives around the world (including London, LA, Toronto & Vancouver), produce a one day stock photo shoot. The royalty revenues generated through image licensing at Getty Images are donated to CEF. I was in good company, shooting at the London event with 4 great photographers, Rob Daly, Andrew Olney, Chris Newton & David Leahy producing a mixture of Boardroom, business life, portrait and still life imagery. I was proud to have been part of this years UK shoot - a fun and productive day!

Here are some images that we have been working on as part of a project on environmental resources and recycling. Love how backlighting brings out the blue in the bottle in the first shot and we tried to compliment this with the lighting for the 'last drop' shot.

Working on a lot of conceptual stuff at the moment, so will get these up in the next few days.
